Last week of August

Sometimes I just like to peer through the window and watch M during Therapy. I am often a distraction during the sessions. When I am spying and see him interacting with the staff it makes me smile. Yesterday the OT, Jason, was doing an evaluation update and checking his speed doing some specific motor skill tasks. M improved, of course! He's been working hard for sure. It's been just over 5 months now since his stroke and progress is continuing. He walked nearly 400 feet with only his cane and mid/moderate assistance yesterday in PT. He only stumbled when he saw me waiting for him at the very end (see...I'm a distraction..hehe) This week we've been swimming, working out, visiting with friends and family, taking short walks on the trails and cruising around in the NEW NEW golf cart. LOL... the first one was constantly having issues, so we gave it back and got another, more reliable one. This one has a stereo so now we cruise and sing! M LOVES it. The NEW NEW golf

Had a nice weekend visit with Ben and Jake. It's so fun to see the interaction between them and Michael. They definitely bring out M's best and it's awesome to hear them talk about his improvements since their last visit. He's working so hard to get better. (and making great progress!!)  ❤ Jake, Michael, and Ben A great 1/2 mile morning walk

The days continue to speed on by. This week we've conquered a couple small portions of the trails with a Rollator walker which was kind of scary, but fun. And the other day at therapy I walked into the room to find M putting! He had a great time, but wished he had his own putter as they provided a 5 iron. LOL   (he could have done some damage with that)  We saw the Neurointerventionalist last week who said he thought things seem to be going well and is very happy with M's progress. Swallowing thin liquids continues to be a problem, as does M's eyes not wanting to line up or glance up or down. Hopefully time will take care of that one. His speech continues to improve and when he tries hard and I try hard we can have full conversations. We've been continuing pool walking a couple times a week and recently he has been completing 10 full laps (up and down the 25m pool..that's 500 meters)

We found a new fun thing to do...zip around Four Seasons in our newly purchased golf cart! Whereas we do not live in a golf community, we do have many residents who own carts. After watching them zipping around each morning/evening and in the couple of times a year parades (cute, huh?) I thought it would be a fun activity for us to do during Michael's recovery. Boy was I right!! Since he always loved the feeling of the wind blowing by when riding his bike, this is the next best thing. We strap his walker to the back and walk around different areas. We drive up to the pool, up to the gym, and soon will be able to drive down the road where they are building a new Sonic Drive In that will be opening fairly soon. Up at the very top of the hill (our neighborhood is very hilly) we captured a beautiful sunset the other night. We are having a great time cruising the streets and Michael LOVES it! 💖
