GOAL MET!

Image
Our 2.2 mile Christmas Eve morning walk was a great success. M did very well and finished strong. It was the most beautiful morning we could have asked for. Ben stayed behind ready to roll if we needed a golf cart pick up. But nope! This guy was a BEAST! Here are some pics: Before the walk One of our rest stops (we are so lucky Four Seasons has many benches around the loop for a quick rest and hydration) Taking another rest Final rest before the last leg HE DID IT!!!!!!

The Holidays

Not much new to report this week, so Michael and I would like to wish you all the best during this holiday season. (hopefully next week we will get to report on our big 2.2 mile Christmas Eve walk.) 🎄 Cherish your loved ones. You never know when an event will occur that will alter your life and change the course of your journey.  Be grateful for the things you do every day without even thinking about them; speaking, eating, walking, seeing. Don't take the little things for granted. Always be empathetic and loving. So many people are struggling more than you can even imagine. You can't truly understand what they are going through...just be there for them and let them know you are in their corner. Realize that today may someday be remembered as "the good old days." Regardless of your situation...smile. ***** This is the master bathroom of a house in our community that is the most Christmas decorated place I've ever seen. My mom and I recently tou

A Christmas Story

Nothing much new this week. Just doing several shorter walks as it seems longer ones are tiring M out a bit. We continue to experience ups and not quite so ups (refuse to say downs). It's just the way it is. We are still shooting for our 2.2 mile Christmas Eve walk, but goals are sometimes adjusted and that's OK as long as we keep moving. Yesterday this photo opportunity happened, so I couldn't resist. It's a reenactment of our favorite Christmas movie called A Christmas Story. While the pole wasn't cold enough to stick, it was very entertaining. If you haven't ever seen that movie, it's a MUST see in my opinion. I double dog dare you!

First week of December

Wow, how quickly time is flying by! December 2nd marked seven months since Michael has been home from the hospital. When I think of how far he has progressed since his stroke over 8 months ago now, it really is amazing. He is speaking somewhat better lately. He is always so proud when our Google Home understands him and answers back appropriately. Simple requests like "Hey Google, Play Steely Dan" were not always successful. (for that matter, saying "Hey Google" was not successful for quite a long time)  Now when he nails it on the first or second try, it's cause for celebration for both of us. Little victories... This week we walked 1.9 miles one morning in our community.  M was strong and did great. Our 2.1 mile trek on Christmas Eve is coming up quickly! He has met his most recent goals in Physical Therapy, so they made new ones such as walking on grass and other uneven surfaces. (if Lori, the PT pictured here saw where we walk at home she would have a
