Getting out and about

Image
This week went by so fast, I just realized it's Thursday and I forgot to post this week. Nothing much new, really. We did take a long drive down to the Salton Sea to go bird watching with our friend, Jeff. We didn't see many unusual birds (lots of seagulls though), but did have a good time, anyway. We walked awhile at the Sonny Bono Wildlife Refuge and got our first sunburns of the year. That below sea level sun is intense even in February! We had a fun adventure.

More Rain and Cold and Therapy

Mount San Gorgonio Mt. San Jacinto We do love the views from our backyard. It's been so cold and snowy. It even snowed for about 5 minutes here the other night and we are supposed to get snow tonight and in the morning. That would be super neat! M has been doing more fun activities at therapy. In the photo below Lori is having him bounce a ball while walking through a little obstacle course. He wasn't feeling too confident at first, but after a few minutes he started doing pretty well. He is definitely determined. Love that about him. ❤

Trying to stay dry

Wow! This rain is putting a huge damper on our activities. But regardless, we are trying to do work and keep moving forward. M went a full hour on the treadmill this week. That is the longest he has walked without sitting down for rests. His legs were pretty wobbly..hahaha....but he recovered quickly. He's been doing some fun therapy at Ballard. Kind of like a sword fighting with staff while walking forward and backward, swinging a stick. He does great. Ben and Jake came over this last weekend. As always, it was wonderful to see them. Love those guys! Sword fighting with Ballard staff. Helps with balance. Love my guys!

Trying new things

Burr! It's cold! (by So Cal standards) 😁 It snowed a lot in our local mountains yesterday and it is extra beautiful! We wanted to get our bodies moving, so rather than a chilly walk, we went to our Summit Clubhouse and did the treadmills which have an amazing view! M had not yet done that machine, but he did great! The treadmill actually forced him to maintain an even pace with both legs. The Life Fitness machines have "courses" on them, so we were both walking on trails in New Zealand. It was fun.
