Saying Goodbye to Therapy Friends

Monday was Michael's final visit to Ballard Rehabilitation. He was an inpatient there for 35 days, and we have gone back 69 days of visits since he's been an outpatient. Finally Kaiser and Ballard agree that he no longer needs the intensive therapy they offer, but rather just keep practicing all he's learned to perfect his skills. We will also continue to receive 30 minutes of speech therapy once a week in the desert. PT and OT is all on us now.

Saying goodbye to Ballard was bittersweet. Happy we do not have to drive to San Bernardino twice a week. Happy to be well enough to be "graduating" from therapy. Sad to no longer see some of the people who have been a big part of our lives for over one year now. Sad to not have a "regular" Monday & Thursday schedule. (I'll be sad to not have their salad bar twice a week for lunch...they had great food, believe it or not)

So, to the Staff at Ballard we say, THANK YOU. We appreciate all the love and care you have given both of us. We will never forget you.

Here are just a few of the people we will miss so much --there are many more special people who we did not get pics with or were not at work:

The awesome Whitney was one of M's OTs during inpatient therapy.
She also subbed a couple of times in outpatient (He'd always be sore because
she pushed him to do some challenging things)
She is so sweet and personable.

The fun and cool Kenny who was his main PT during inpatient therapy.
He always KNEW M would make great progress.

Chauntel was one of our favorite nurses. She is so positive and upbeat.
We had so much fun with her when M was an inpatient. As an outpatient we still would see her
in the halls and in the Cafeteria.

Megan and Karissa. M's AMAZING inpatient and outpatient Speech Language Pathologists.
They both made therapy so much fun.

Goodbye Room 128 where M spent 35 days.
